Bridging the Gap Between Humans and Animals to Create a Healthier World

Friday is February 1, which is the first official day in my new office. I am looking forward to moving in and joining the others in the office suite where I will be located. I feel very welcomed there. I am also eager to meet those that would like to receive readings and healings from me. It is so fun to relate to others on a level that is not always encouraged in our society. It is so interesting to me that while we live our life in this physical reality on earth there is a whole other realm occuring, not visible by physical sight, whether we validate it exists or not. I enjoy acknowledging the spiritual realm and providing a safe place for others to share their related experiences.

For over 20 years I have assisted people with life issues including relationships, finances, work, stifling beliefs, inhibiting patterns, low self esteem and countless other topics that would help us all feel more human if we were to express them openly. I have participated in house cleansings ("ghostbusting"), hospital visits, psychic fairs and healing festivals. I have taught meditation and healing workshops and classes to people of all ages. One area that I have particularly enjoyed tuning into is the world of animals. People have asked questions about their pets, along with questions about themselves. I have given my pets and other people's pets readings, healings and gentle massage and have found that animals love being acknoledged spiritually and are drawn to healing energy.

As I mentioned in my last post, I will be expanding my practice to include not only helping pet owners with their pet questions, but work directly with the animals themselves. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. I am bursting with enthusiasm about having the opportunity and honor to work with animals in this way on a more regular basis. I am interested in not only using my psychic abilities to work with tame animals, but wild ones, as well.

I have not been a supporter of zoos. Seeing animals in cages is painful and disturbing to me. However, a friend and I decided to venture to the San Diego Zoo today. We were able to go for free, otherwise I would have been even more hesitant. A relative had previously added me onto her membership and I had been given a free pass that I gave to my friend. Since I wasn't actually paying, I was able to justify the learning experience without feeling like I was literally supporting the concept of zoos. It was an opportunity to communicate with wild animals and see them in person, something I had not done for a very long time. I had not been to a zoo for around 14 or 15 years. I have boycotted zoos, aquariums, circuses and any other venue or event where the treatment of animals may be questionable.

Me and my friend, who is also a psychic reader, healer and capable telepathic communicator enjoyed our experience. Not only was it a pleasant day, but we also, unconsciously chose to go at a time when it was relativiely uncrowded, which according to my friend's experience, is a rarity. We gave psychic readings to the animals, talked to them, gave them energy healings and observed their behavior. Some animals seemed contented that they had a reasonably comfortable and calm life, not having to hunt for food or face the stress of predators, however some certainly weren't happy.

One smaller cat, that actually looked close to a domestic long haired feline was verbally and spiritually growling her meow at all of us people to go away and give her space. After several moments of angry meows she retreated to her sleeping area. She was an angry cat. If I were her, I would be angry too!

The jaguar was making a noise that expressed pain. It sounded as if it was in agony. I reported it to a zoo worker, who said that it makes that noise sometimes in the canyon too. I repeated myself that I wanted to report it because it sounds like something is wrong with it. The woman assured me she would go tell the trainers that were close by. My friend and I both saw that the animal was having some digestive disturbance and gave it a healing. The cat quit making the noise of complaints and following our healings the cat closed its eyes and went to sleep. I do question why so many of the wild cats, big and smaller breeds are kept in such small enclosures. When taken into captivity do they simply give up the experience of running? Doesn't that seem tragic and simply inhumane to you?

I did, however see some of the healthiest looking birds, including ducks that I have ever seen. Their feathers were amazingly clean and vibrant. My opinion is that this is what happens when wild animals receive veterinary care and don't spend their lives swimming in oily and polluted waters. I really noticed a difference with the appearance of the birds.

I loved seeing the mommy panda playing lovingly with her baby Zhen Zhen and the polar bears chomping joyfully on carrots, but my favorite experience at the zoo today was being so close to the gorillas that if there wasn't a glass barrier in between us I could have hugged them. They came down to where we were and put their backs up against the glass. I petted the glass as if I was petting them giving them an energy cleansing. I felt such an affinity and love for them, I told my friend I would be completely happy moving into their enclosure with them. I have great respect for Dian Fossey and her commitment to helping these beautiful creatures. I adored seeing them. Their meditative moments, thoughtful expressions and uninhibited nature was interesting and fun to watch. The following link will take you to The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund website. http://www.gorillafund.org/

I love animals and am so excited to keep growing as a pet and wild animal psychic and energy healer. In addition to working with animals, I would like to teach others how they can use their psychic, healing and telepathic abilities to consciously communicate directly with their pets and other animals. I am convinced that as we continue to bridge the gap between humans and animals, we heal our world. Not only can animals learn from us, but we from them. They are here to teach us. I believe that the animals in our lives are mirrors reflecting what we need to see in ourselves. It may be our beauty, our kindness, our joy and it can also be our fear, insecurities or agression. It is helpful to validate how we impact those around us human and not.

Although I will be able to have animals in my office and offer in person services including psychic readings, energy healings and gentle massage, the animals don't actually have to be present for me to work with them. Similarly, people don't have to be present for me to give them readings and healings. It will be great to have the option, however of bringing in pets. Thank you to my wonderful, welcoming and open minded suite mates and landlords!

Countdown to Psychic Readings and Healings in My New Office in Ocean Beach

Today was a very productive day. In addition to being one day closer to the official opening of my new office in Ocean Beach, I found another space to use for larger workshops and classes. Although I will be able to offer small gatherings at my office location, the studio I found in downtown San Diego will accommodate more people. It's a lovely space and the building's owner was very open minded, helpful and welcoming to me and my work.

I plan on presenting at least two meditation workshops and one six to eight week class during 2008. I may add more to my event calendar as the year progresses. I would like to present at least one workshop on Animal Communication. Bridging the communication gap between people and animals will definitely help make the world a more joyous place for all creatures. We all have telepathic abilities. In my Animal Communication presentation, I will teach tools to help people use this ability more consciously to enhance their relationships with their pets.

At this time I can't bring pets into the studio downtown that I found today, however I will be able to in my office space. It was clear from the beginning that my new office space was meant for me. This was even more strongly validated when my new landlords expressed sincere enthusiasm for my plans to expand my business to include pets. Although I have answered people's questions about their pets during readings, I will now be adding the additional service of working directly with the animals.

I will write more about my business plans as time progresses. Only four more days until I'm in my new office! If you are interested in talking with me directly about the services I will be offering, feel free to call me at 619-384-0761 or email me at sindisomers@gmail.com. Thank you for reading my blog and don't forget to hug your pet!

Healing in San Diego

Hello everyone and thank you for reading my blog!

It's after 1:00 AM on Monday morning, and since I haven't gone to sleep yet it feels like Sunday, although it is no longer yesterday. I mention this because I will be talking about "today" although it was actually Sunday when the healing events took place.

Three of us that completed the Healing classes, as well as other training at the CDM Psychic Institute in the Pacific Northwest live here in San Diego now. We got together today and traded aura healings. A few other people that they knew joined us and received healings.

Aura healings are a gentle cleansing of your aura, chakras and energy system. I consider them a spiritual massage. Receiving a healing gives you the opportunity to release unwanted energies and tune into your unique vibration. For those of us that have received these, they are definitely missed when they are not obtainable. I was happy to receive my aura healing today, as well as excited to give a couple of them. Both giving and receiving these healings is rejuvenating.

It was a fun healing and social event that was followed by a trip to a coffee shop in Golden Hills that I hadn't been to before called Krakatoa. If you haven't ventured there yet, here is their address and phone number:

Krakatoa
1128 25th St.San Diego, CA 92102
619-230-0272

Except for eating eggs, I am pretty close to being vegan, so I ordered their hummus and pita. Although I am definitely not a hummus connoisseur, it was truly the best hummus I have ever had. It was amazingly flavorful with a great texture. My friends got sandwiches that looked equally good. I've been here for almost nine months now and am still in the discovery process. I am very pleased each time I find a new location that I enjoy.

Although I don't serve hummus or sandwiches, I do offer a variety of healings to my clients. Here's a sampling of what will be available by appointment beginning in February at my Ocean Beach office.

Aura Healings - a cleansing of your aura, chakras and energy system
Head Channel Cleansings - great for those that experience migraines and other headaches
Female Healings - for those of you souls manifesting through a female body
Sickbed Healings - for those that are bedridden or unable to sit in a chair
Long Distance Healings - for those that are not able to physically come to my office
Hospital Visits - for those wishing to receive a sickbed or aura healing while in the hospital

In addition to healings, I offer one hour psychic readings that validate you as a spirit; the soul that is you. I give neutral information about past lives and how you are relating to different aspects of your life, including your body and physical reality, your emotions, power, communication, clairvoyance and more. There is time to ask questions about relationships, your pets, work, finances, psychic experiences, dreams, your spiritual purpose and really anything that is effecting you or that you are curious about.

For more information or to discuss available reading and/or healing times you are invited to call me at 619-384-0761 or email me at sindisomers@gmail.com.

It is now after 1:30 AM. I am tired and am going to bed. Hope you had a great weekend!

Seattle vs. San Diego - My Inner Controversy

As I mentioned in my last post, I have enjoyed the recent bouts of rain we've been having here in San Diego. It reminds me of the mellow days spent enjoying the sights and sounds of gray western Washington weather. I say western Washington instead of Seattle, because my memories are of not only of Seattle, but other areas as well. Everett, Olympia and elsewhere. However, my favorite Washington city is Seattle. I love it. Also, as I mentioned in my previous blog post, I now have become affectionate with San Diego too.

My love affair with Seattle was instant. I remember driving through it in the late 70's with my family as we travelled to our new residence, a state park with lush green trees and a lovely walk to the shore of Puget Sound. At that time I only experienced Seattle from the freeway, but I remember the feeling I had. The contentment and the awareness that I finally had found my home. My thoughts were exactly this, "This is such a beautiful city. It is so pretty. The prettiest city I have ever seen. I am going to live here one day." And I did.

I would say I have come to accept San Diego as my home. If you read my post from yesterday you will understand that statement. I do not want to offend any San Diego natives, but I am aware that reasons, other than the unfamiliar heat and perpetual sunshine, led to some of my resistance to embracing my new home place with open arms.

Again, if you read yesterday's post you know that this isn't the first time I have lived here. I was born in San Diego and lived in southern California until I was about nine and a half years old. Like most of us, my childhood was less than pleasant. We often associate our experiences with, not only who else was involved, but where we were at the time.

Another reason that I see my life has taken me back to my birthplace is to provide me with an unavoidable opportunity to heal aspects of my past. I am very interested in my personal growth. It excites me. Learning about myself and using tools to change patterns and perspectives so that I can become clearer and manifest more of my true essence is important to me. I enjoy giving psychic readings and healings to others, because it is a mutual healing experience. I love the communication and connection with another soul on a level that our society rarely encourages or acknowledges as possible. I feel blessed that I have learned techniques to heal myself and assist others to heal themselves.

As I gently confront, instead of aggressively avoid, the issues that have resulted from childhood trauma I am less frantic. I experience less discomfort and stress and more calmness and joy. As I let go of residual emotions and energies that have haunted me, I am able to see San Diego as my new home vs. the type of home it used to be for me. My relationship with this city and this area of the country is cleansed as I forgive and move forward. As I have less of my energy tied up in past interactions I am able to access more of that energy to create in the present. I am creating a new life in a place that is not new, although many of my southern California memories are embedded in my unconscious memory.

Through meditation and energy work I am able to uncover these memories and love the little girl that needed love when she lived here before. That was a long time ago. The here and now is where I want to live. The here and now for me is in San Diego.

It feels exciting to me here now. Although it carries past memories for me, the present and future are amazingly free and unlimited. I am enthusiastic about my life here. I have the experience, awareness and control of my life as an adult, but the wide open eyes of a curious and eager to learn child. I feel energetic and optimistic about where I am. I look forward to meeting new people and continuing to create my new life here. I look forward to having lots of San Diego based fun!

It's raining and I'm in San Diego. What in the world could possibly be better than that?

Psychic Reader and Healer, Sindi Somers Journeys from Seattle to San Diego

I arrived in San Diego County in May of 2007 with my mini menagerie and plenty of uncertainty of what life would be like for me here. Although I was born in San Diego, I had been living on the western side of Washington State for the past 30 years and loved it. Accustomed to the cooler climate, lush greenery and frequent rains, the heatwave that greeted me upon my arrival, was not welcomed by me or my pets.

My inner complaining was much louder than the grumpiness of my words. "It's so hot!", I frequently whined as I drove around looking at what seemed to be barren desert compared to what I was used to. I was sure this new environment would not work for me and that I would never grow to like the heat, sun and lack of rain. What was I doing here? I so often thought with agitation. I didn't like it and was convinced I never would.

So here I am, nearly nine months later revelling at the beauty that is, San Diego. I looked out the window the other day and actually had the thought, "I like the sun." And I meant it. I have thoroughly enjoyed the recent downpours we have had. When it is raining, I do feel like I am back home in Seattle and have an inner calm and a smile on my face. However, I now rarely complain about the sun and if asked if I would want to move back to the rainy Evergreen state, I would honestly have to say no, at least not right now. I may end up back there when I am ready to enjoy that lifestyle again, but for now I am here and have somehow turned from being a Pacific Northwest snob into a southern California sunshine enthusiast. Of course, I was born as that, so perhaps I have returned to my organic, natural state of being. I have, some might say, come home.

Since I have been here my life has been busy and full of growth and a myriad of personal and professional lessons that have matured and enlightened me in ways that I didn't expect. I have met interesting people and have gained some wonderful new friends whom I truly enjoy. These experiences never would have taken place if I had not ventured down I-5 in search of nothing, but a journey that kept being shown to me. Although I resisted it at times, it was so clear I was to move here that it got to the point that it seemed as if I had no other option. Relocating to San Diego and creating a new life here was definitely meant to be. I had no idea of the totality of why at that time. All I knew is that I had three weeks to sell what belongings I could, transport the rest into a storage unit and pack up my beloved animals and other necessitities that I could stuff in my little car and head for the state line.

The road trip was certainly an adventure and loud kudos have to go out to my furry friends for being such cooperative troopers. They resembled seasoned world travellers as they adjusted to different hotel rooms, sights, smells and sounds. I was proud of them and I have to say, proud of myself for making what could have been a difficult trip an easy, enjoyable ride to our new residence.

This, of course has been a life changing experience. I have been blessed with many of them. One crucial and important event to mention is the day I found the CDM Psychic Institute. It was 1984. I was living in Bellingham, Washington, attending community college. I had returned to Bellingham after dropping out of Washington State University following one long, depressing, class skipping and party filled semester.

Seven or eight months or so after being back in Bellingham I was introduced to CDM. Someone I knew had received a psychic reading there and was very excited about it. At the time I had expressed an interest in past lives and she thought I might be interested in CDM's readings because they discuss people's past lives. I non-chalantly agreed to a visit and went the following Sunday. I didn't receive a reading that day, but did receive an aura healing, which I found intriguing. After my healing I talked to the CDM meditation teacher and signed up for the next available meditation class.

CDM's Meditation I class completely changed my life. In retrospect I would have to say, it gave me hope. It showed me that my life could be different. Instead of being depressed, I could be happy. Instead of lacking energy, I could experience enthusiasm. Instead of being shy and insecure, I found I had the ability to be confident and express my own thoughts. To this day I use the techniques I learned in that class. Without them and the other experiences I had at CDM, I know for a fact I would not be where I am today. I have more energy at 41 than I had at 18 because I learned how to let go of energies that fatigue me and weigh me down. I have learned how to access my unique power and creativity and share it with the world. For more information you can visit CDM's website at http://c-d-m.org.

I continued taking classes at CDM, including their Healing classes and Clairvoyant Program and eventually their Teacher Training Program. As a result of this work I am an ordained minister, experienced meditator and spiritual healer and a certified meditation and healing teacher. I have given healings and readings, performed weddings and have had the joy of teaching others the same life changing techniques that had empowered me. Eager to share this information and assist others in southern California that are interested in personal growth and I began searching for an office space to set up my spiritually focused business.

Excitement is the closest word that I can use to express how I feel about finding an office that feels like home to me here in San Diego. I am enthusiastically anticipating joining with other like minded souls in the loveliest of locations in Ocean Beach. February 1, 2008 will mark the opening of my doors. There are many reasons that I am here at this time. One of the main reasons is to provide spiritual services to the San Diego community. If interested in finding out more about me and my practice, feel free to call me at 619-384-0761 or email me at
sindisomers@gmail.com.

2008 looks like an exciting year full of interesting happenings. I look forward to meeting you and assisting you on your life's journey.

Thank you for reading this entry. I hope you visit my blog again and join me as my days here in San Diego as a psychic reader, spiritual healer and ocean loving resident unfold.
